  Dependence Day!
America is still a colony of Great Britain, tea is the drink of choice for all colonists, gin, bowler hats, pipes and pith helmets. Art galleries and steampunk attire are likely, and uppitty colonists may declare war on you the next day. Pip pip, cheerio and see you there!

Ya wanna know about the UNSCHEDULED ones? Really? Sign up for our newsletter, and if we are somewhat sober when we are roped into them, we will let you know.

Hey! This crap costs money! Well, not the board, that's free, but the website hosting and name registration costs money, the cards and maps we print, the mailings to bar owners, bail. . . . point is, send us a couple bucks if you have the inclination. We will very likely apply your donation to website expenses or event expenses and NOT blow it on booze. Ok, somewhat likely.

April

March's Rampage

May's Rampage

- -

This event will feature all things super- super heroes, super villains, super, uh, janitors. . . Last fall we had a ceasefire (to raise money for P;ear), but sadly the peace has not held. Now both sides (and the ever-present "others" who simply can not be bothered to pick a side) are ramping up their armies with New Recruits! This event raises funds to pay for props, decorations, prizes and whatnot for the next event (which is the actual charity). As well as bribes. Ya never know when you will need bribes.

Here is the basic idea:

1) Get a super identity. Wonder Woman is already taken; be creative and make up your own.

2) Put a costume together.

3) Pick a side (couples have way more fun if they pick opposing sides, by the way).

4) Show up. Heroes meet at R. Palate (219 SW 6th Ave, across from the US Bank Building) and Villains gather at the Crown Room (205 NW 4th Ave, right next to the strip club Magic Gardens).

5) Those who have been to the last Alter Ego event will be entered onto the scroll as they arrive. New Heroes and Villains will be given a chance to prove themselves through contests, games and, oh, I dunno, juggling. Hey, it's late and I am updating a website about people who will have way more fun than me. Cut me some slack, ok? I am just the webmaster. Seriously, back off. Here, have another cool image, drawn by Reset (he is the one with the green "reset" image on his face. Duh.)

I am gonna go have a drink. I promise, swear to god, cross my heart, you can have my first born son, that I will edit this last part out after I have a few drinks.

Unless I am evil. Ya never know.

Oh, super . . . uh, janitors. Whatever. People who have super powers but don't really take over the world or fight crime fall into this category. And all those people who hang around the supers (groupies like Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane and Alfred, for instance) qualify too. Anyway, they get a sticker that says "meh."

Hey, more info, lookie here. These are the badges you will be given (better quality ones are available as a fundraiser for a donation of about five bucks, otherwise you get a cheap sticker). Ya wanna know what the acronyms mean? So do I; we were drunk when we made 'em up.

Whatever.

(The bad guys)

co-sponsored by the folks that brought you the amazing Alter Ego: Ceasefire. Also worth noting: April is Comic Book Month in Portland, local events such as the Stumptown Comic Convention are worth seeing, several local comic book artists will be there (and yes, some of them are willing to sell you super cool actual real art), and I like pie. Pie is seriously one of the greater desserts, ya know? Man, I could really go for some nice apple pie right now. Or chocolate, but only with sprinkles otherwise it's just pudding on a crust. Dig it?

Other costume items can be found at Hot Topic, thrift stores, etc. Dishwashing gloves at the grocery store work well as costume parts. Spray-paint clothing to make it quickly colorful and stiff. When in doubt, put a bunch of nylon belt pouches all over your costume to make handy untility belts.
